“It is a good way to get a bit of brand awareness out by stating a few facts to keep the motorist interested in Breakdown Cover. Hey who are we to complain. But the Green Flag have done just that at the beginning of December, by announcing that the recent snap of cold weather produced the largest amount of callouts since 21st January 2007.
There is no doubt that there is a relationship between the weather and breakdown cover services, many getting caught out, because they just do not have a policy. The report comes from the Which magazine and has useful tips on winter driving and issues like that.
It seems that this once announcement from Green Flag has given content to Which and ourselves. Keep up the good promotional work, that’s what we say.”
This is an old news item, being brought back up to date
Originally set up as a network of breakdown recovery agents, Green Flag has become a huge consideration within the breakdown cover market. Owned by Royal Bank Of Scotland (Recent government take over considerations not included here) that ownws many insurance giants like Direct Line Churchill and more, it normally can deliver very competitive pricing compared to the other big 2 operators, the AA and the RAC.
Here is an older advert, claiming a price of around £29 for the basic policy, however at the time of writing this short article, Green Flag Breakdown are advertising their cheapest policies from £20.
Unlike other breakdown cover service providers, their online application form is a bit more complicated and will ask questions like the yearly milage and age of the car to give you a quote, so you may not get the cheap breakdown cover price advertised, if they feel their is a greater risk value to your vehicle.
Rapid Breakdown Cover
The word rapid is being used in the currect interent campaigns, as Green Flag claim to have a very fast service, why not add your comment
Out of all the recent breakdown cover TV adverts arguably the Green Flag rapid cover one is the best. There is no singing, no cars emerged in water just facts and figures backed up with clever animation. The facts are quiet impressive also with breakdowns being attended to with about a half an hour.
But the biggest message is that currently Green flag are offering breakdown cover from £20 a year for their basic roadside service. This is backed up by saying tha 86% of breakdowns are fixed by the roadside, pretty much telling people that is all they need. Of course this is not always true, but I am sure they are getting serious business from this offer. Of course it is the Royal Bank Of Scotland that owns Green Flag breakdown cover and with so much TV marketing occuring with all their insurance products, there is a good chance that the Green Flag TV campaign is cost effective.
As we know the Green Flag engineers are all self employed garage owners and recovery agents, so even though response is quick you are really dealing with a lot of small businesses. Anyway here is the TV advert, you can make up your own mind.
We see this from time to time, where major insurance companies offer free breakdown cover in order to encourage you to take our their car insurance. In this instance it is Churchill the nodding dog that is saying yes to free breakdown cover. The offer is on to the 31st August 2009 according to the Churchill website and major television campaign. But before you start picking up the phone, you may want to do a little research first to ensure this car insurance freebie is actually right for you.
The first thing to know is that Churchill is owned by RBS bank and so is Green Flag breakdown cover, so you know your motoring service will be covered by them. So one of things you may consider to do, is to visit the Green Flag website and establish what you will be covered for should you breakdown. This is important, as even though you will only get the basic cover free of charge this may not suit your motoring or you families motoring needs, so free may really mean discount.
The next thing to consider is that Green Flag’s basic cover at the moment is only from £20 a year, so if you have been quoted an insurance quote £20 cheaper, you may find it is better to go elsewhere for your insurance and buy Green Flag breakdown cover as a separate policy.
The final thing is timing your car insurance and breakdown cover policies. A lot of people buy these separate, so often the renewal times are different. Why not check to see if the cover has to be immediate or can be postponed until your existing policy runs out, it may save you a bit more money for now.
