What a Car Breakdown Does Not Cover

It is very common that car owners apply for car breakdown covers without even reading the fine lines carefully. When the time comes to take advantage of the cover, you may or may not get the car breakdown cover, this is because there are several clauses, and you many have not fulfilled either one or several of them.

Car breakdowns are common, and it gets difficult to handle the entire expense, hence we ask for a car breakdown cover. There are however a few instances that a car breakdown covers will not include. Most of what we will learn here pretty much applies to most car breakdown cover companies, with a few personal touches here and there.

So that you know before hand, here are a few car breakdown covers that are not covered;

The company always checks the plan you have opted for, this makes it easier for them to understand what they are not covered for. Here are a few listings of certain things that the breakdown policy may not include.

Certain parts of the car
A policy always lays out what’s the maximum you could spend on labor charges.
If your claim has gone beyond the expected market value of the car
Recovery cannot be claimed for immediately after the accident even if it through a local garage.
If the mileage exceeds a certain limit as pointed by the policy.
If there is any unauthorized work or expense carried out will not get a breakdown cover.
If you have used the vehicle to transport any animal or pet is not covered.
If you call the breakdown service, you will not be covered.
There are limited call-outs and if you exceed the maximum then you will have to pay.

  1. The only time you are required to return to the dealer is for warranty repairs and recalls. Even then, you may have those repairs done at any repair facility, but the vehicle manufacturer will not cover the cost.
